How GFS is manufactured
The process is industrial and factory-controlled, never done on site. In simple terms:
- Plate preparation: the carbon-steel panel is cut, punched and its surface is cleaned.
- Glass frit application: a slurry of ceramic glass (silicates and oxides) is applied to both faces.
- Furnace fusion: the panel enters a furnace at roughly 800–900 °C. The glass melts and bonds to the steel, forming a continuous layer.
- Cooling and inspection: thickness, adhesion and absence of pinholes are verified (for example with a holiday or spark test).
Because the coating is fired in a furnace and arrives at the jobsite already vitrified, panels are simply bolted together on site. There is no field painting, curing or welding, which cuts erection time and removes finish variability.
